Feels Like Home

Living in the cottage has been a lovely experience. One of my favourite features is definitely having the swimming pool right outside my front door — it adds such a special touch and makes the space feel more homely. The property has a nice atmosphere, and I’ve enjoyed making it my home. Overall, it’s been a positive experience, and I appreciate the charm of the property and its convenient location.

Overall I’m having a really good stay at Northwards. My room is very spacious and comfortable, with a big wardrobe which is a huge plus. I also appreciate having both a bathtub and shower available. Well maintained and I would recommend.

Peaceful and Close to Campus

I have been here at this house for 2 years and it’s been a conducive place for me and my studies as it is a very peaceful and beautiful place to stay at. Very far away from the distractions but also very close to campus if you are studying at UP but overall I rate this place. The house’s best feature for me is the shade I get from the tree behind the house.

Safe and Well Managed

I’ve been staying at this student accommodation and it’s been a good experience. The place is clean, quiet and safe with spacious rooms. Rent is fair, water and electricity are managed well, and any problem gets fixed quickly because the landlord is responsive. The other tenants are respectful. It’s well secured with cameras outside and inside the houses in the common areas, and what I like most is the app. I can arm my room, open the gate and get in without carrying keys around, so my room is always safe. There’s also a swimming pool which is great to relax after classes. It’s a decent, comfortable place. I would recommend it.

Memorable Experiences

Our commune house is a lovely and convenient place to live, especially with the University of Pretoria and nearby convenience stores just around the corner. My favourite part of the house is definitely the living room where we get to relax, watch movies and enjoy lots of memorable game nights together.

Sense of Community

As a young professional just starting out, living at 270 Hay has been an amazing experience. I really enjoy the sense of community that comes with sharing a house with other people who are either studying or working, while still having your own personal space.

The house is fully furnished, and everything you need to live comfortably is already provided, making it easy to settle in. On top of that, the landlord is incredibly friendly and goes out of his way to ensure that you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Overall, 270 Hay has been a wonderful place to live, and I would highly recommend it to other young professionals or students looking for a comfortable, welcoming place to call home.

A Very Secure House

I have spent almost 2 full years at this communal house, and I’ll honestly give it an 8/10 experience. It is a well-furnished house with a touch of vintage, of course, but that’s what actually makes it more like home. Everything is provided here: a furnished room, household appliances like a microwaves, fridges, washing machine, stove, WiFi and even a flat-screen TV. You only pay your respective rent (water and electricity bill included in the rent).

I have truly enjoyed my time here, with a nice, respectable owner who’s easy to talk to whenever you have a problem and caters to everyone’s needs. The housemates I’ve lived with over my period here also didn’t give me problems; we respect each other. If someone is making noise, we let each other know, and no problems ever followed from that. Honestly, can’t complain about much.

Of course, no place is perfect; there are hiccups here and there, like when the electricity is out, or the water is out as well, but that’s not due to the fault of the house but rather Tshwane and the city’s outages. With respect to the things controlled in the house, not many problems here, if there are you just let the owner know and he’ll sort it out the best he can.

It’s a peaceful area, a very secure house with an alertable response security team (alert button on your given keys) if ever there’s something wrong. The main campus is just minutes away from the house; shops like PnP or Hatfield Plaza are also within walking distance, so it’s within proximity of most things you’d need as a student.

This is what I can say about living in House William in summary. No regrets coming here.

More Than Fair Rent

The place is gorgeous. It works for me because I’m not an outdoorsy person — I love the peace and quiet the area provides. The walls and wardrobes are a beautiful white, and it’s clean. The rooms are spacious and have a lot of storage, which suits the commune feel: enough for my clothes as well as my kitchen things.

The rent is more than fair, especially after house-hunting. Having water, electricity and WiFi included is very convenient, because I don’t have to worry about anything besides studying and my own groceries. The bathrooms are clean, and the kitchen is spacious with a lot of storage — I love cooking, so I’m always in there. There’s constantly scalding hot water, which I love: I can clean and wash no matter how greasy, and shower whenever I like.

I live with lovely people, kind and considerate. I noticed the new washing machine, and I’ve already taken it for a test run. The cameras are there, and I know we are safe. Overall, a very nice, student-efficient place.

Overall Positive Experience

I enjoyed my stay at Hay house. I had an ensuite bedroom with lots of space and natural light. I very much enjoyed the pool and braai area. The kitchen was sufficient for students cooking habits. I appreciated clear communication and maintenance upkeep from the landlord’s team. And I always felt safe with the security system. Overall positive experience.

Responsive Landlord

My experience at 61 Mackenzie Street has been thoroughly positive. The accommodation is well maintained, with a spacious, comfortable room and a fully equipped kitchen that provides all the essentials for convenient student living. The swimming pool was a particularly welcome feature during the summer months, offering a great space to unwind and fostering a wonderful sense of community among housemates. The laundry facilities are excellent, and the weekly cleaning and gardening services contribute to the overall upkeep of the property.

The hosts are exceptionally kind, approachable, and responsive, making communication effortless and ensuring a pleasant living experience. Although the walk to campus takes approximately 15 minutes, the quality of the accommodation and the overall living environment more than compensate for the distance. I have genuinely enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend it to students looking for comfortable, well-managed accommodation in Brooklyn.

Convenience Tops Everything

My stay at House of Hay has been a truly pleasant experience. My favourite feature is the swimming pool, and I absolutely love having a spacious room with plenty of cupboard space. Another thing I really appreciate is having two bathrooms, which means I never have to wait for someone to finish showering before I can use one. Honestly, that convenience tops everything for me! To make the experience even better, we have Mr Brian as our landlord — the cherry on top. Whenever we need assistance or there is a problem, he is always there to help without fail. His reliability and willingness to assist make living at House of Hay even more enjoyable.
