I have spent almost 2 full years at this communal house, and I’ll honestly give it an 8/10 experience. It is a well-furnished house with a touch of vintage, of course, but that’s what actually makes it more like home. Everything is provided here: a furnished room, household appliances like a microwaves, fridges, washing machine, stove, WiFi and even a flat-screen TV. You only pay your respective rent (water and electricity bill included in the rent).
I have truly enjoyed my time here, with a nice, respectable owner who’s easy to talk to whenever you have a problem and caters to everyone’s needs. The housemates I’ve lived with over my period here also didn’t give me problems; we respect each other. If someone is making noise, we let each other know, and no problems ever followed from that. Honestly, can’t complain about much.
Of course, no place is perfect; there are hiccups here and there, like when the electricity is out, or the water is out as well, but that’s not due to the fault of the house but rather Tshwane and the city’s outages. With respect to the things controlled in the house, not many problems here, if there are you just let the owner know and he’ll sort it out the best he can.
It’s a peaceful area, a very secure house with an alertable response security team (alert button on your given keys) if ever there’s something wrong. The main campus is just minutes away from the house; shops like PnP or Hatfield Plaza are also within walking distance, so it’s within proximity of most things you’d need as a student.
This is what I can say about living in House William in summary. No regrets coming here.
